We've all done it...

Kim you're not the only one...I'm sure each of us has a story to tell about dents in the cars. (You CAN blame yours on the dog!)

I'm the one that left the memorable green stripe on our Honda. I was just trying to back the car out of the garage so I could wash it. I still say I did pretty good for never having driven a car before! (nonetheless a stick shift). Good thing mom had quick reflexes--We didn't run over anybody...just by the green wheelbarrow and into our wood pile.
I believe this is the felled tree (or wood pile) that the Honda was brought to a stop by. The garage and driveway in the background should give a better visual for the above incident. This picture was taken in 1979 shortly before Robyn was born...yep, Mom's about 8 months pregnant in this photo. That's Kelli and Dad in the picture with her.

I also remember being down at the AF tabernacle for Jill's highschool graduation, driving around looking for a parking place...and being rear ended by Heidi Turley.

Lor~ Everything DID turn out okay while backing out the Honda, and only hitting the green wheel barrow that goodness!
But... you COMPLETELY failed to mention you back out of our garage at about 50 mph!!! You did "back" the car out of the garage, you practically FLEW!!!

And... speaking of "Blaming the Dog" Lori don't you have a REALLY awesome story about Mickey in the basement?
You gotta tell it right! (knock the bajesus out of it okay?)

Here's the story of Lori backing the Honda out of the garage from my point of view...

It was a yard work day, and we had all been busy doing various Dad-assigned jobs. I was out on the front lawn (down by the first apple tree...before it was ripped out :( .) I heard the car start in the garage, but didn't pay much attention until I heard the engine revving higher and higher. Then, when Lori had given it sufficient gas, she quickly let up on the clutch and with a LOUD SCREECH (peel out, they used to call it) that little car came flying out of that garage.

Just after clearing the garage, Lori slams on the brakes causing another screech of the tires. Then she quickly tries again with the same result...rev, let go of clutch, swipe the wheelbarrow and stopped by the branches of a downed apple tree.

I don't know if it's fair to say, but there were some tears shed and some statements made about NEVER driving again!

Glad it turned out okay! Seriously!

Jen you didn't need to cry for me! Oh wait, you meant me with the tears and Never driving again statement. Dad insisted I got back in the car and drive it back UP into the driveway...I don't think I did that day. No wonder I waited till 7 months after my 16th birthday to get my drivers license.

LOL! I remember the whole thing too! Apparently you had a whole bunch of witnesses that day :P

You really did seem to just come flying out of the garage, FAST. I'm sure we laughed hard after we recovered from the shock! ha ha ha. I think we all kind of waited to see what the "parental units" would say or do. No one, amazingly so, seemed to get that upset about the whole thing.

Did it scare you really bad Lori? What about the time you popped the clutch on the tractor? That's a pretty good story too.
