Sleigh Riding

Only because it turned out well can I post this story...

This is the Alpine Cemetary today. It has changed alot since the 70's and 80's.

That hill is where we use to go sleigh riding. (and believe me they have lessened the grade--that hill use to be alot steeper) I remember one time we were there sleigh riding Kim and I, and Laura and Cheryl Taylor. (not sure who else was there) Laura went down the hill head first on her stomach, and smacked right into a headstone. She didn't appear hurt and we all laughed and laughed thinking that was the funniest thing ever.

Now, being older, a nurse, and a parent I would die if my children were out sleigh riding over, around, and into headstones. But boy was it fun!

How old were we all when that happened? I'm guessing Cheryl and I were around 13, so you and Laura were 9 or 10?

We talked Laura into going down the very steepest part of the cemetery hill on a metal runner sled! She was laying down on her stomach and she must have been holding on for dear life! She bounced down the hill like a rag doll and then hit a headstone! The sled stopped but Laura kept moving for a foot or two. Oh my did we giggle!

Lori did you wet your pants?

This is only funny 'cuz it all turned out ok!

My friend Heidi broke her leg tubing down that hill. I think Camille was there with her.

Can I say that since it didn't turn out so well?

I was there. I remember being at the top of the hill and watching Laura fly down the hill and having a sudden, abrupt stop with her head hitting the gravestone. She didn't move and we all sat there in shock waiting to see if she was ok. Thank goodness that turned out well. We love you Laura!
