Where is Jill's Jr. Prom Corsage?

Cliff Nielsen asked me to Jr. Prom my Jr year. I had saved up some money and felt determined to have a dress I really wanted and felt beautiful in. (We always had to borrow dresses from someone else for these dances and there are many emotions we 4 older Peterson girls have in regards to this:).

So off mom and I go to the Orem University mall. We go to the second floor of ZCMI and I find the perfect dress for me. For mom, not so perfect and I am grateful she allowed me to buy the dress I wanted. So I took my hard-earned $100 and bought a lovely tea length, pink satin strapless dress. Oh how I loved this dress! and yes, I still have it.

So I get ready for Jr. Prom and Cliff picks me up and we head to his house to have dinner with a large group of friends. Now the strapless dress has thrown the whole corsage pinning custom into a bit of a tailspin. Cliff not knowing what to do has his mom help me and she decides that the best thing to do is to pin the large corsage on the waistline of my new, $100 pink satin dress, drawing more attention to my waistline, which I was super self conscious about anyways. Not only that, I was super worried about this large corsage ripping a hole in my new pink satin dress. Needless to say, I felt very stressed.

So we finish eating and my waistline was feeling extra large AND it was accented with a large flower corsage that was big enough to rip my dress. Cliff and I arrived at the dance, which was at UVSC. There was all kinds of excitement in the air. Something about Ninja and him creating some kind of drama that night put fear into some of us, everyone showing off their dresses and suits and makeup and hair. While we were standing in line for photos and I notice a big plant next to us and I quickly unpinned my corsage and threw it into the bushes. Glad to be rid of the thing that was causing me stress, I never thought Cliff would notice. But notice he did. Shortly after I'd thrown the corsage, Cliff asked me "Where is your corsage?" He was very concerned. I stated "Oh no, it must have fallen off!" He did not take this lightly. All I wanted was for him to let it go. Please don't find me another corsage! We got our pics taken and I think it was dropped after that.
Not my best moment, but I felt happier and freer from then on. Cliff Nielsen, I apologize and thank you for a beautiful corsage.
Note to self: Let your date know if you're wearing a strapless dress so they can buy you a wrist corsage.

HA HA HA Jill! I have never heard this story! I remember the dress well. I did not know that you paid for it yourself, that was a lot of money back then! I think it is hilarious that you ditched your corsage. I mean, the reasons you state make total sense when you are 16 or 17 years old. I cannot believe, however, that he noticed the absence of the corsage so quickly. Next time I see those pics I will definitely notice! WTG Jill, quick thinking. I'm sure he would understand it all now. LOL

That's a classic! I had a corsage fall off right onto my dinner plate once (sophmore year Drill Team Formal.) I like to think that no one saw as I snatched it out of my Chicken Cordon Bleu and quickly excused myself from the table to replace it.

Jen, did you lick it off or just put it back on and smell dinner all night?
You are hysterical. That is great physical comedy. Who were you with?

I was with Rocky Price and the dinner was at our house in our formal dining room since we had forked out big bucks for a limo that night. I ran out to the kitchen to mom and we must have tried to wipe it off and she helped me pin it back on!

Wow Jen! You were lucky! You actually got to use the dining room for dining in between times it was being used as a bedroom! What were out parents thinking? I was in Jr. High and had the dining room for a bedroom????? Don't get me wrong it was awesome! Two doors and next to the kitchen with J.D. sitting on my window sill! Every little girls dream is parkay floors forget pink or purple! (BTW excuse my spelling of parkay floors, but I even called Robby "English Major" and that's the spelling we decided!)
Oh wow!!! We did some pretty crazy things in that house!
