1980's? Well, you asked for it...

Lori wanted to see more pictures from the 1980's, so here is the dance picture I referred to in my comments on Jill's post about her corsage. This was my very first dance...Drill Team Formal, November 1986, girls choice.

I originally told my date, Rocky, that I would be wearing a pink dress (the one that Kim wore for the Miss Alpine pagent) but Camille talked me into wearing this one that I borrowed from Cheryl Peterson. It's such a horrible color on me...I don't know why I wore it. When I went to the door to pick up Rocky the first thing he said was, "I thought you said you were wearing pink?" I guess I should have told him about the change so he could match the lovely cream color a little better. Then my worst nightmare came true as he pulled out a pin-on corsage for me. All the other girls got wrist corsages.

There were five couples in our group and none of us were old enough to drive yet, so we hired a Limo to take us to the dance. But first, an older sister of one of us girls drove us around to pick up our dates and we came to my house for dinner. See, we didn't have enough money to pay for the Limo to just sit out there while we ate, so we had him come pick us up afterwards and take us to the dance. That's also why we chose a home-cooked dinner.

So, there we were, sitting at dinner, and my corsage falls right off into my plate of Chicken Cordon Bleu. I quickly snatched it up and dashed out of the room where mom helped me clean it off and pin it back on. Perhaps I smelled like dinner all night, I'm not sure.

Here's the pink dress the following year. Drill Team Formal November 1987 with my date Mike.
And, just because you asked Lori...here's a lovely one of you that I found. I think this look is coming back in.

Oh WOW!

Those are "awesome"! I ran across a few recently that I have not had the nerve to post anywhere. One prom photo my husband said, "Did your group also star in the My Fair Lady production. Lovely HOOPS."

These are great and the photo at the top of all of you girls is gorgeous!

that is hilarious...Sorry that top dress is... not so good...The funny thing is I was at Old Navy a couple of days ago and you're absolutely right about that look coming back in. I found a blue shirt pretty much like that one and a red skirt...it really did remind me exactly of this outfit! so much I had pulled the picture out of my photo album to scan) I felt like I looked like a million bucks in this outfit! Thanks Jill for letting me wear it.

These are great! I guess I will have to go digging in some of my old boxes. I'm sure that will generate some giggling. Maybe someone can find some pics of Mome' from the 80's. That would be interesting too. I will look and see what I can come up with.

Ah Jenny, you really worked those dresses. And what IS up with the hoops and is the commenting Gretchen Gretchen Fegal, the Thompsons cousin?

Lori didn't you have a "hoop issue" at one of the dances? I'd love to hear that story.

BTW Lori, you look great in this outfit! The shirt and belt are courtesy of Bonkers in the University Mall (Frank Trinnaman's store that I worked at when I was 16. That outfit is probably back "in" right now. Unfortunately, I feel like I've lost my fashion MOJO, I don't get it as much anymore and wished I did.

Kim, I know you have some great ones, too. Kelli and Robyn, you two need to share some photo ops too!

Gretchen is a High School friend of mine (Gretchen Walley -- sister to Bill Walley.) She has some fabulous pics of her wedding day on her blog (along with comments about them from her sweet daughter) that make you giggle.

Thanks for your comment Gretchen. I would LOVE to see your My Fair Lady pictures!

Jenny, looking at these pics again, that first dress isn't so bad. You match your date AND the fountain.

Sorry, I hit the publishing button twice because I was impatient. So you get to see my comment 2 times instead of just one. I tried to delete it but it wouldn't let me. Bummer.

Oh great! Now it looks like it removed my comment when I was trying to delete it! The comment was not inappropriate or embarrassing, I was just trying to delete the multiple copies I produced because of my impatience! Now there are NONE!

You guys crack me up. I remember Jenny's corsage falling off in her dinner plate. It is so funny to remember those times. I really have to apologize - I should have insisted that you guys needed more than one prom dress to share between you for all high school dances.
