Does anyone remember the Thompson's truck? It resembled this one, a pic that I so cleverly acquired from the internet. Tyler drove it a lot and used it to deliver the milk he got from his lovely milkcow....(DANG, I don't remember the cow's name! ) He milked that cow every morning and every night and we bought our milk from him. This was milk fresh from the source! Much different than the white, watery stuff that we feed our children now. It was in glass, one-gallon jars--wide mouth ones. The milk was also NOT white, more of a true creamy color. I'll bet it had cream that was three inches high on the top. We just took that milk bottle and shook it hard and mixed all that cream right in and drank it by the glass! I can't imagine doing that now! I'm fairly sure my kids wouldn't get to big of a kick out of true, RAW milk freshly milked and chilled.Actually, a lot of the time we picked up the milk when we were driving up the lane on our way home. (one-gallon, glass jars are hard to carry), but other times we DID run down the lane and then carry them home. One time Tyler drove me home in their truck. He drove into our garage and, being the gentleman he was, tried to reach over me to open the door so I could get out with the 2 jars of milk. Well, the next thing you know, I feel a jerk and hear a large "CRACK". The truck was still in "drive" and his foot slipped off the brake! The truck lurched forward and hit the wall in the garage! (On the other side of this wall was our family room) The whole wall bowed inwards in an arc. He was so embarrassed. ( I'm sure he worked hard to pay for that to be fixed. ) I would love to hear the account of anyone who was IN the house when it happened...Mome'?
Yeah, this was just ONE time in many that my beauty has stopped traffic! LOL

Poor Tyler Thompson. That I'm sure is on the top list of his most emmbarrasing moments. If he can top it then that is just crazy. I've had the opportunity to visit with Tyler just a few months ago - he is so polite. Wow, what a moment for him. Kim, I'm sure you did stop traffic though.
It's funny to laugh about now, but I remember when I saw the wall I felt really sorry for Tyler and thought "Ooh, you are going to be in SOOOO much trouble!"
Another memory of Tyler...he was bringing me home from Celeste's birthday party on his motorcycle. He turned to the side and spit and I thought that was cool, so I gave it a try. It didn't go so well, because 1) I spit straight forward; and 2) I was riding in front of him. Poor Tyler, that spit just came right back into his face. He was so nice about it, but I'm sure he wanted to kill me.
That's a good one Jen! Have never heard that one! How old do you think you were?
Hey Laura! Where does Tyler live and how is he doing?
Lori! What was the name of the cow?
He lives in down town Alpine in a two story house that is the nicest in the neighborhood. I think if you turn east right after the park (by the drinking fountain) his house is on the right. He seems happy and has been successful. He took over his dad's book business (kind of what scholastic does). It has grown tons.
Tyler was such a good guy. He took responsibility and I believe he payed to fix the family room wall. Such fond memories. The milk, the Jersey cow-what WAS her name? Bessie? I couldn't milk her to save my life, but I believe Kim took over milking duties for Tyler at least once when he was out of town.
Remember Mutton the ram butting Gretchen across the yard? We were probably not so nice to laugh, but it was so comical. Gretchen was such a great sport.
All of us Peterson girls LOVED Tyler! Like the big brother we never had. He was so sweet to all of us. and the cow...he taught us how to milk, strain, and bottle it. SO many great memories.
Uh... no, actually he didn't take over his dad's business although he used to be an owner in the business. He sold off his portion to Celeste's husband and is doing his own thing now. He does live in Alpine with his wife, Janece. Their daughter Anna is in college, and son Thayne and daughters Felicia and Abby are still at home.
Tyler had two different cows: Lady and Dreamer and a pony named Bullet.
Mutton! Yes. We had two sheep named Mutton and Lamb Chops. We ate them. Then Petunia the pig. We... we ate her too. But we didn't eat our dog, Cinder or any of our dozens of cats! Our kitty, Nightmare, lived for years.
Random memory that just popped into my head:
I remember you guys found a huge snake in your yard and one of you called me to come and get it, because I love snakes. I remember walking up the road and the Halls and several other people were standing around this large, hissing blow-snake. I walked over and picked it up and someone screamed which startled me, so I threw it into the crowd which caused pandemonium! *snigger*
BTW, we still tell the story about Tyler driving the truck through your wall too. It's one of our favorite family funny stories. :)
Hello Miriam thanks for updating us and adding the details...wasn't there a cat named midnight who brought all the mice she caught to the door? Cinder (do you have a picture of the dog? was it black?). That's so funny to remember all the dog neighbors too...Penelope, Brutus, was it the whitlocks dog that was peanut? The snakes--all the snakes on that dirt road! We got pretty good at hopping over them.
Good to see you Miriam! I'm glad someone is enjoying our blog besides us!
Do you have a blog?
I hope all is well with you and your family, I haven't seen you since 7 Peaks!
Feel free to share more stories, I am still laughing about Mutton!
What about the zip line???? That was some fun stuff!
