Music's in My Soul

I was driving to work yesterday morning...cruising down the beautiful new Legacy Highway (a MUST if you haven't done it yet), rocking out to my iPod-- with my new Rocket (Thanks Kim!) when I totally missed my exit! Oops!

Want to know what I was listening to?

Guns 'N Roses "Paradise City."

Yeah, Yeah, I hear your laughing and mocking...but I still love the 80's!

The reason I missed my exit was because I was laughing so hard at the lyrics of the song. I remember back in the 80's (the olden days) when that song first came out and I would sing my heart out.

"Take me down to the very last city where the grass is green and the girls are pretty..."

The thing is, the real lyrics are "Take me down to the Paradise City where the grass is green and the girls are pretty..." (Thus the name of the song!)

So, it got me laughing pretty good thinking about all the misunderstood lyrics. I know we all had some good ones, so...time to share. I've got others that I'll share in the comments.

What are some of your funny misunderstood lyrics?

I seem to recall Robyn and Kelli with Huey Lewis and the News song "I Want a New Drug", I think they thought it said "I want a new TRUCK".

Lynn Erickson could have sworn that the Flashdance song said "Take your PANTS OFF, and make it happen" instead of "Take your PASSION, and make it happen." It was a debate for a while.

Here are some others-Elton John "Benny and the Jets" Angie Tibbitts and I thought it said, "She's got electric boobs, a mohair suite, you know I read it in a magazine oh ho, BBBB Benny and the Jets" it actually says BOOTS-Brad Tibbitts told us.

How about ELO Blinded by the light, confusing deuce with douche. woops!

I remember the Lambs, Giffords, and Amy...singing that flashdance song.

What about "I'm Joe Studdin" (Jill?) suppose to be I'm Still Standing--what song was that?

When I worked at Haircuts Plus (1991), my manager was singing along to the radio one day... Prince "Little Red Corvette"

"I guess I should've known by the way you parked your car sideways that it wouldn't last. See, you're the kinda person that believes in makin' out once. Love 'em IN LEVIS."

It's really "Love 'em and leave 'em fast"

Now, I'm not great with lyrics, but that one really made me laugh. (silently, to myself being that she was my manager and all.)
